Alkmaar known for its cheese market
Whoever says Alkmaar, says cheese.
Alkmaar is a municipality in the Dutch province of North Holland. Until the end of 2014, the municipality consisted of the city of Alkmaar, Oudorp and a part of Koedijk. Since 2015, the municipality of Alkmaar also includes the territory of the former municipalities of Schermer and Graft-De Rijp.
